Your wedding dress should fit perfectly on your big day and make you shine. However, alterations are often necessary to tailor the dress ideally to your figure and personal wishes.
As one of the few specialized ateliers in Berlin, we offer you a comprehensive service for the creation and alteration of your wedding dress. Here, we answer the most important questions about wedding dress alterations.
When should I have my wedding dress altered?
Our service is in high demand, especially during peak season from March to September. That’s why we recommend contacting us as soon as you’ve purchased your wedding dress. The earlier, the better – to avoid unnecessary stress before the wedding.
If you're getting married during peak season, you should secure your appointment as early as possible, as we have limited capacity and unfortunately can't accommodate every bride.
How long does it take to alter a wedding dress?
The duration of the alteration depends on the season and the individual effort involved:
- Off-season (September to March): Alterations usually take two to three weeks. In urgent cases, we also offer express services that can be completed within half a week to one week.
- Peak season (April to August): During peak season, we typically need four to six weeks for alterations. Short-notice changes and express services are also possible, but we kindly ask you to contact us directly in urgent cases so we can offer you personalized advice.
We plan each alteration individually and ensure that your dress is ready on time and perfectly tailored.
How much does a wedding dress alteration cost?
The cost of wedding dress alterations varies depending on the scope of the work. On average, you can expect prices between €150 and €650. Here's an overview:
- The length of the dress almost always needs to be altered.
- Minor adjustments in the upper area, such as altering the straps or neckline, are often necessary.
Please note that we cannot provide price estimates based on photos. A sample dress you try on in the store does not give a reliable impression, as it often does not match your size.
To accurately assess the effort and cost, we need to see the dress on your body and pin the necessary alterations in person.
What alterations can be made?
We offer a wide range of alterations to tailor your dress perfectly to you. These include:
- Length adjustments: So your dress is perfectly tailored to your height and your shoes.
- Fit adjustments: From the waist and hips to the bust, we ensure a perfect fit.
- Design changes: Want to make small style adjustments to your dress, such as altering the neckline, adding sleeves, or extra layers of tulle? We’re happy to advise you.
- Detail work: Adjustments to buttons, petticoats, lace, or embellishments.
Wedding Dress Alterations in Berlin: The Process
1. At the first appointment, we’ll decide together which alterations are needed for your wedding dress and discuss your individual requests.

2. At the second appointment, we check the previously made alterations for fit and appearance, and if needed, we make final minor adjustments.
If no further adjustments are needed and the wedding dress fits perfectly, you can take your gown home with you.
3. Final fitting, dress pickup.
Can I have additional pieces like sleeves, straps, or an overskirt made for an existing wedding dress?
Yes, we’re happy to create additional elements such as sleeves, straps, or even overskirts to match your existing wedding dress.
Our atelier places great importance on custom design, ensuring that the new elements blend seamlessly with your dress and help bring your dream of the perfect wedding gown to life.
Can I have last-minute alterations done?
Yes, we also offer last-minute and express services. Please contact us directly in such cases so we can find a personalized solution for you.
Please note, however, that capacity is limited during peak season.
